i Listen To
Web application to show personalized Spotify listening statistics
December 2019 - current
My favorite feature of classic media players was the ability to see personal listening statistics, such as your top listened to artists and tracks. Spotify lacks this feature; however, this data is available through the Spotify Web API.
With iListenTo.net, users can see their own top 50 artists and tracks of the last 4 weeks, 6 months, and all time. Built using React, it’s accessible on all devices with a web browser; no need for downloads or platform specific code. With Bootstrap, I carefully designed the UI to be responsive to screens of all sizes and to follow Spotify’s branding guidelines.
iListenTo.net currently averages around 100 users per month.
Currently on the backburner, but I’ve begun the process of renovating the software to provide even more detailed listening analytics. I have built a NodeJS backend that runs in AWS Lambda that periodically queries recently played songs on all registered accounts, saving a complete listening history for each user in DynamoDB. I’m now developing the upgraded React frontend to allow for advanced analysis of this data.
